Hello everyone! Here are some updates. The troop will be having a meeting on Tuesday, so be sure to come to that and hand in your finished blue cards from scout camp to Mrs Hamilton. If you have any other badges you finished and need on your sash or shirt, such as the mile swim or the totin' chip, make sure to bring the cards for those too. Currently, the troop is also working on the astronomy merit badge and Mr Martinez is hoping to set up a time for a star party after our normal meeting or on a weekend. If you plan on doing that badge, remember to work on the badge at home.
I would also really like to give a big thank you to all the parents and leaders who gave up a week to come up to Camp New Fork and help out with everything.

9 Mile Canyon Overnighter
Coming up soon for big events in May is our 9 Mile Canyon overnight trip. This will be a great overnight camping trip. The dates for the 3 day trip are May 30-31 to June 1st. On May 30, we will meet at the church sometime around noon to meet together and decide who will go in which car. We may have a 12 passenger van, or we might be split up into separate cars. The drive is 3 hours one-way. When we get there, we will walk to a campsite not too far away from the car, set up camp, and spend the night. We will have a Frisbee and a football to play with. The next morning, we will do a day hike with an archeologist. You need to have a lot of water for this hike. That night, we will camp in our same camping spots the previous night. The next day we will pack up and leave. As for meals, each patrol will be planning and bringing supplies for its meals. Plan on 5-6 meals. Marshall will be checking to see if we can have campfires, and Christian will be checking on the weather for that weekend. For the people who are going: Bring a lot of water. Bring more than you think you will need. Dehydration is a serious thing, especially on an overnighter such as this. So be prepared! If you plan on going, and you were not at the scout meeting on May 13, please contact Mr Martinez and tell him that you will be going. Mr Hamilton is the one who is organizing the archeologist to come and guide us on our hike, so if you have any questions about that, you can contact him.

10 Commandments Hike
Due to a comment I received, I would like to inform you all on the upcoming 10 Commandments hike. On this hike, a couple different scout troops will be walking around Ogden to 10 different churches of all religions. This will give the scouts an idea of what each religion believes and what they practice. The walk will be around 5 miles, so scouts, it will qualify for one of the Second Class requirements. If you will be going, it will be this Saturday, May 10th. We will be meeting at the Marshall White Center at 7:30am to start the hike. The address of the Marshall White Center is 222 28th Street Ogden. If you would like to contact them or receive directions, go to this page: http://www.marshallwhitecenter.com/location.html . All you scouts, this is a great way to see different religions and a great way to just get outside and walk! This will also earn you a cool patch for your sash. There will also be food at some time during the route. If you plan on going, I would suggest you contact Mr Martinez and tell him that you are going.
